CEDROS YEAR OF THE SNAKE

18,888 boxes have been produced, with each box containing 18 of these exceptionally rare cigars

The Partagas Cedros is the sixth presentation dedicated to celebrating the Chinese New Year. By selecting the Partagas brand, Habanos s.a. has now utilised all the Global Brands to mark these occasions.

The Partagás Cedros represents the Year of the Snake and is presented in stylish lacquered boxes with a snake-skin effect etched on the lid.

The Cedros is an entirely new vitola (size) within the Habanos standard portfolio measuring 5⅜” (135mm) x 50 ring gauge. The size is referred to as Dignos (‘worthy’ in English) in the cigar factories of Cuba, and each cigar is dressed with an additional foot band that denotes an image of a snake in keeping with the Chinese zodiac.

PARTAGAS

If there is one building in Havana that excites cigar lovers above all others, it is the old Partagas factory. You can find it at No. 520 Industria Street, just behind the Capitol building, in the heart of the city.

The factory was opened in 1845 by Don Jaime Partagas and was still operational until just a few years ago. It is now closed, with plans to transform it into a cigar museum well underway. The Partagas shop on the ground floor, however, remains open and is well worth a visit.

A Partagas is immediately recognisable by its deep, earthy flavour. The character of its blend stems from a selection of filler and binder tobaccos grown in the Vuelta Abajo zone, chosen for their unmistakable richness of flavour and aroma.

Partagas comes in a wide array of shapes and sizes, notably the Lusitania and the 8-9-8, a cigar named after the way it is arranged in its box.

However, the best-known of all Partagas cigars is the Serie D No. 4, a robusto size that formed part of the legendary Partagas alphabet series, dating back to the 1930s. In 2005, the Partagas Serie P No. 2, also known as Pirámide, was added to the range, which has quickly become the cigar of choice among lovers of full-flavoured Havanas. In 2011, the Serie D No. 5 and the heavy ring gauge Serie E No. 2 further extended the alphabet series. 2014 saw the most recent addition to the range with the introduction of the diminutive D.6.

All sizes are ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano’ – long filler, totally handmade.
